Herefordshire Winter Cross Country League 2006-07

Race Three - Holme Lacy

Eight members of Ledbury & District Harriers (Six men and Two Women) participated in the third event of this years Winter Cross Country League at Holme Lacy on Sunday. After the previous nights heavy rain and strong winds the 2 1/2 lap course was particulary wet and muddy so conditions underfoot were proving tough going for many of the participants. Despite this the Ledbury Harriers mens team produced their finest performance ever in the event by finishing 5th overall with a total of 105 points beating the Hereford Couriers 'B' team by one point.

Clifford Berry led the Harriers team home in 15th position in a time of 52.19. The other members were Barry Thompson 27th 54.40, Chris Law 30th 56.13, Nick Jenkins 33rd 57.30, Steve Rooke 41st 59.28 and David Horne 43rd 60.03.

The race was won in a time of 47 minutes 11 seconds by Matt James of Hereford Couriers and there were 73 finishers.

Nicola Page and Sarah Coggins ran in the ladies event for Ledbury finishing together in 18th and 19th position. They were both credited with the same time of 44 minutes 16 seconds. The winner was Nikki Edwards of Hereford Couriers in a time of 36 minutes 47 seconds. There were 28 women finishers.

On this occasion six teams did not receive any official points.
